Steve Rawlings in "Live and Unstable"

After a long day of technical rehearsal Steve and friends performed "Live and Unstable" to a large crowd at the Mumford Theatre on Saturday 9th January. This was the first performance since last year and although there were a few technical hitches the show went very well .

Steve would like to thank all Community Circus members who helped with the distribution of flyers, technical assistance on the day and stewarding. The event also made around £150 for the Community Circus.

Events - Future

20th & 21st March - Community Show 1999

Rehearsals for the Community Show begin on Saturday the 16th January at 10 a.m. at Romsey Mill. If you want to be in the show, and you haven't had a chance to tell us yet, please contact Charlie on 01223 315172 straight away and turn up on Saturday. You might want to bring some sandwiches for lunch as you'll probably be there until 5 p.m. Remember you don't need to be a brilliant juggler (or even able to juggle!) as there are opportunities for learning new skills especially for the show. We'll be starting with a general skills session and following up with some theatre games. Our director for this year is Deb Snook who some of you will remember from past Community Circus events.

Unfortunately we didn’t get our Lottery grant; however in our usual fashion we're going to do the show anyway! This means that anyone who can help us with costumes, props etc. will be very welcome - if you, your parents or anyone else you know can help please let us know.

You can buy tickets for the show from the Drama Centre on 01223 322748 - they cost £6 or £4 concessions. Please tell all your friends and family! We're running on a very tight budget so the more tickets we can sell the better.

Workshops

Masterclass Workshops

The first Masterclass workshop in acrobalance is planned for January 24th 1999, taught by Lee (who teaches Chloe & Simon at Circus Space in London). You will need some acrobalance experience for this workshop (i.e. attending 2 or 3 Friday acrobalance sessions with Chloe & Simon) and you should have a partner to work with. If you're interested please contact Charlie, Chloe or Simon as soon as possible. The workshop will probably be in the afternoon at Romsey Mill and cost £5 per person. You will have to be a member of the Community Circus to join the workshop. Future workshops will include acrobalance and trapeze taught by Simon & Julia from Heir of Insanity and club-passing taught by various members of the Community Circus. We'll let you know when we have confirmed dates for these.
