EVE Combat Log Analyser 0.16 README - 28/Nov/2006 ================================================= Please take a moment to look over the ReleaseNotes (Program Files\CombatLogAnalyser\ReleaseNotes.txt or use the Help->Release Notes menu option) to see what's new in this release. Requirements ============ First things first, do you have the Microsoft .NET Framework installed? If not, you'll need to download and install it before doing anything else, here are a couple of links: Download the .NET 1.1 Framework - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=262D25E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en MS .NET Framework Home Page - http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/technologyinfo/default.aspx General info on .NET Framework - http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/downloads/framework1_1/ All done? Excellent, time to move on. Installation ============ Extract the contents of the zip file to a directory on your hard disk. Run the Setup.exe or CLAInstall.msi file. Both should work but a small number of users have reported problems running the .msi install file. Those that do should try Setup.exe. From here, just follow the on-screen instructions. Please note that trying to run either Setup.exe or CLAInstall.msi from within WinZip or WinRAR will _not_ work. * Version 0.16 Installer has an issue with machines running Internet Explorer 7. If you see an error message during installation referring to problems registering a dll, just click continue. About EVE Combat Log Analyser ============================= The EVE Combat Log Analyser (CLA) was written with a single purpose in mind, to provide me with easy means of analysing my EVE combat logs, in particular, how much damage I'm doing, to whom and when. Rather than trawling through lots of badly formatted plain text, why not take a look at the official CLA home page, it's even got pictures :) http://utter.chaos.org.uk/~dean/cla/ Usage ===== The first time you run the CLA, it will scan all of your EVE Gamelog files. I've only been running EVE for 4 months but have already built up a nice collection of 9000+ log files. The point is, first time you run the app, it will take a while to trawl through the files. The app does however build a cache of important information so this process should only happen once, be patient :) Everything else should be pretty obvious, the only "hidden" feature is that the Weapon, Hit Type and Target filters allow multiple selections if you hold down the CRTL key. Exporting a log file in CSV format is done using the File->Export option. Notice that in the Save As dialog box you get to choose the filetype. Currently, options are Text File (combat entries exported in their original format) and CSV (suitable for loading into something like MS Excel. Take a look at the various menu entries, in particular, Tools->Options where you get to configure a bunch of... configurable stuff. Bugs / Suggestions ================== All feedback is welcome as long as it's vaguely constructive. Send an in-game mail to Hurg. Terms and Conditions ==================== The CLA is free. I neither ask for nor expect payment of any kind (come to think of it, I'm not completely convinced that anyone would pay if I did). If you do feel a desperate urge to bestow gifts or tokens of gratitude on me, just wire some ISK or escrow some cool bp's to 'Hurg' in-game :) Those links again ================= Download the .NET 1.1 Framework - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=262D25E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en MS .NET Framework Home Page - http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/technologyinfo/default.aspx General info on .NET Framework - http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/downloads/framework1_1/ Official Combat Log Analyser Home Page - http://utter.chaos.org.uk/~dean/cla/ Third Party Components ====================== Divil Components - SandDock & SandBar The CLA uses the rather wonderful SandDock and SandBar .NET components from www.divil.co.uk. If you are a .NET developer you really should check them out. Not only are they excellent components but they are also completely free of charge for non-commercial use. See http://www.divil.co.uk/net/purchase/default.aspx for licensing information. DevAge Software - Sourcegrid2 ----------------------------- A very tasty .NET Grid Control (which I use for the Weapon Browser). See http://www.devage.com/ for more information. NSpring - Logging Component --------------------------- Yet another fantastically useful .NET component, this time for logging. Fast, functional and trivial to use. See http://www.codeproject.com/csharp/nspring.asp for more information.
